A Workshop on Employment Mapping for MBA/PGDM Aspirants

Shantiniketan Business School in its endeavour of promoting Employment Oriented Education received good response to the Workshop that was organised on Employment Mapping on 4th of May for the benefit of MBA/PGDM aspirants. The objective of the workshop was to explore the avenues of Employment in Manufacturing, Service, and Financial Sectors for the budding Management students.

Ms Alpana Deshpande, HR Head, Purti Group of Companies addressed the participants on various avenues of employment available in service sector covering Infrastructure, Power, LPG and logistics . She highlighted the various linkages in each and every sector which open up a lot of opportunities for the Management Students. She stressed that a Management Aspirant should self introspect on his SWOT and then choose his field of career. A decision influenced by society and family can turn catastrophic in the long term.

Vamsi Krishna, HR associate, Ultratech Cement, an Aditya Birla Group Company in his current role, responsible for Manpower Planning, Compensation & Benefits emphasised on the need for change and upgradation. Today, an organisation needs talent and Human Resources is the competitive advantage for the organisation. Every organisation looks for growth in their employees. This becomes possible only and only if the employee upgrades his skills and talent on a regular continous basis so that he becomes ready to don higher roles.

Mr Prakash Badge, a retired Chief Manager, State Bank of India, after his 40 years of tenure in the banking sector has challenged the youth of today to explore vast opportunities in this sector. This year, this sector is likely to offer employment to about 1.20 lac people out of which SBI has already declared openings for 20000 clerks, 3500 Pos and 150 Technical Officers. A student needs to work on both written exam and interview techniques. The main focus while assessing the candidate lies on Knowledge and Aptitude for accepting Challenges.

The workshop is first of its series being organised by Shantiniketan Business School to promote Institute Industry Integration.
